Mercedes-AMG showed the production PureSpeed at the Formula 1 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix in December 2024. It is the first model in the strictly limited Mercedes-Benz Mythos series. The run is 250 cars. Fully open two-seater. No roof. No windscreen. Mercedes printed 430 kW (585 PS) and 800 Nm. The gearbox in that book is AMG SPEEDSHIFT MCT 9G, with a wet starting clutch in place of a torque converter. Not three pedals.

Also in this series: Mercedes Named a Mythos Series of Collector Cars, and Mercedes-AMG Showed the PureSpeed Concept as the First Mythos Car.
250 cars. Badge on the console.
Mercedes-Benz’s official media site in the Netherlands carried the world-premiere kit: The new Mercedes-AMG PureSpeed, exclusive small series. Same headline as the global release. Combined energy consumption 13.7 l/100 km. Combined CO₂ 312 g/km. CO₂ class G. Those are the WLTP figures Mercedes printed next to the name. The exclusive small series is strictly limited to 250 models. A badge in the centre console reads “1 out of 250”.

The design language matches the concept. Low silhouette, long bonnet, shark nose. Wide intake, AMG lettering, a dark chrome-plated Mercedes star. The front resembles the Mercedes-AMG ONE. Small, partly transparent deflectors sit on the front and sides. Visible carbon sits low. The boot lid and rear diffuser are shaped for a car with no roof. Twenty-one-inch forged aluminium wheels wear carbon-fibre covers. Front tyres 275/35 R 21 on 9.5 J x 21. Rear tyres 305/30 R 21 on 11.0 J x 21. Mercedes printed those sizes.

HALO in steel. IWC on the dash.
The HALO replaces the A-pillar. Mercedes describes a robust tubular steel bracket, attached to the shell, that splits behind the occupants. Two rigid roll bars sit under the scoops. Narrow LED strips light the underside of the HALO. Two helmets, painted with the car, carry an intercom. Smartphones can pair to it. The scoops recall the 300 SLR of Stirling Moss and Denis Jenkinson at the 1955 Mille Miglia. Standard paint is mystic silver magno. The motorsport styling package runs from Le Mans red to graphite grey with a black AMG pattern and a 10 on the front wing, for the 1924 Targa Florio winner.

Interior: crystal white/black. AMG Performance seats, heated multicontour, leather, unique stitching. IWC Schaffhausen designed the analogue clock. Drop-shaped glossy black housing on visible carbon. Illuminated dial. Bezel in the IWC Ingenieur manner. Burmester High-End 3D Surround Sound System: 15 speakers, 1,170 watts. Mercedes printed both numbers. A weather cover stretches over the HALO and clips to the wheel arches. Each customer also gets a PureSpeed-specific AMG indoor cover.
AMG SPEEDSHIFT MCT 9G. Wet clutch. No third pedal.
This is the clutch graf. The factory book has a heading for it: “Transmission with wet starting clutch.” The AMG SPEEDSHIFT MCT 9G transmission, Mercedes wrote, combines an emotional shifting experience with extremely short shifting times. A wet starting clutch replaces the torque converter. It reduces weight and, with lower mass inertia, sharpens response on sprints and load changes. That is an automatic with a wet clutch pack. It is not a three-pedal manual. Mercedes did not print a clutch pedal for PureSpeed.
The engine is the AMG 4.0-litre V8 biturbo. Maximum power 430 kW (585 PS). Maximum torque 800 Nm. Zero to 100 km/h in 3.6 seconds. Top speed 315 km/h. Drive is AMG Performance 4MATIC+, fully variable. AMG ACTIVE RIDE CONTROL with semi-active hydraulic roll stabilisation. AMG high-performance ceramic composite brakes: 6-piston fixed calipers in front, 1-piston floating at the rear, black with white AMG logos. Active rear-axle steering, opposite phase below 100 km/h, same phase above. The chassis is an aluminium space frame. Mercedes listed aluminium, magnesium, fibre composites, and steel. Pininfarina was the small-series partner on the public-road test programme that covered more than 3,000 kilometres before this reveal. Official testing note: 28 August 2024, Affalterbach/Nardò.

Mercedes did not print a US price in that kit. Do not invent one. The production car is on mercedes-amg.com as well. The factory still calls it a fully open two-seater with no roof or windscreen.
