Information we collect
We collect information you give us on purpose and information your browser sends automatically.
- Personal information. Name, email address, and anything else you type into a comment, contact form, or newsletter signup.
- Log data. IP address, browser type, operating system, referring and exit pages, and date/time stamps. We use this to run the Site and see how it is used.
- Cookies. Small files stored on your device so the Site can remember preferences, keep you logged in if you have an account, measure traffic, and (if we run ads or affiliates) attribute clicks. You can block or delete cookies in your browser. Some features may stop working if you do.
Comments
When you leave a comment we collect the fields on the form, your IP address, and your browser user-agent to help with spam detection. An anonymized hash of your email may be sent to Gravatar to see if you have a profile photo. Gravatar’s policy is at automattic.com/privacy. After a comment is approved, that photo is public next to it.
Comments and their metadata are kept indefinitely so we can recognize follow-up comments. We may edit or remove comments that are abusive, off-topic, or spam. Email us if you want a comment of yours taken down.
Newsletters
If you join the Autogonzo list, we use your email for the reason you signed up and, from time to time, for other Autogonzo or Tiny House Media, LLC notes we think you might want. Our list runs on AWeber. You can unsubscribe with the link in every email.
How we use information
- To run, secure, and improve the Site.
- To publish and moderate comments.
- To send newsletters you asked for.
- To measure traffic (including Google Analytics or similar tools).
- To comply with law, or to protect our rights and the Site.
Who we share it with
We do not sell your name or email for a third party’s marketing list. We do share data with vendors who help us run the Site, and only as needed for that job:
- Hosting and WordPress infrastructure.
- AWeber, for email.
- Analytics and (if present) advertising or affiliate networks, which may set their own cookies.
- Spam filters on comments.
If Tiny House Media, LLC or Autogonzo.com is sold or merged, this information may transfer with the business. We may also disclose information if the law requires it.
Embedded content
Posts may embed videos, images, or other media from other sites. Those embeds work like a visit to the other site. They may collect data, set cookies, and track you if you are logged in there.
Advertising and affiliates
The Site may show ads and may use affiliate links. Those partners can use cookies to measure clicks and, in some cases, to show interest-based ads. See our Disclosure. Your rights
If you have an account or have left comments, you can ask for a copy of the personal data we hold about you, or ask us to erase it, except data we have to keep for legal, security, or administrative reasons. Email autogonzo@gmail.com.
If you live in the EEA or UK you also have rights under GDPR to access, correct, delete, or restrict processing of your personal data, and to complain to a supervisory authority. California residents may have additional rights under state law, including the right to know what categories of information we have shared and to opt out of sharing that can be treated as a “sale” for advertising. We do not sell your name or contact information.
Children
Autogonzo.com is for adults. It is not directed at children under 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If we learn we have, we will delete it.
How long we keep data
Comments stay unless you ask us to remove them or we take them down. Newsletter addresses stay until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete them. Server logs are kept only as long as we need them to run the Site.
Security
We take reasonable steps to protect the information we hold. No website is perfectly secure. Use the internet accordingly.
Changes
We may update this policy. The current version will be posted here with a new “Last updated” date. If we make a material change in how we use personal information, we will give you a reasonable chance to consent where the law requires it. Using the Site after the new date means you accept the updated policy.
