BMW Priced the 2027 M240i Coupe at $53,600 and Left Out the Clutch

BMW priced the 2027 M240i Coupe at $53,600. That is the starting MSRP on BMW USA’s official 2 Series M models page, before tax, title, license, registration, and dealer markup. For that money you get a compact coupe, a 386-horsepower inline-six, rear-wheel drive, and an eight-speed automatic. The factory book does not print a clutch pedal.

No clutch in the book

This is the clutch graf, and BMW printed the opposite of a stick. The official BMW USA technical data sheet for the 2 Series Coupe lists the M240i’s transmission as “8-speed, automatic” with rear-wheel drive. The M240i xDrive row is the same gearbox with all-wheel drive. No six-speed manual. No three pedals. Sales copy on the same M models page calls out the “8-speed Sport Automatic transmission” and paddle shifters — coasting or dynamic, selector or paddles, still two pedals on the floor.

That is the split in this hallway. The full 2027 M2 Coupe at $69,500 still keeps a six-speed manual as the standard box. The M240i — same compact coupe architecture, same showroom family — is automatic only. If you want three pedals in a small BMW coupe right now, you pay for the M2, not the M240i.

386 hp, mild hybrid, $53,600

BMW’s live U.S. table puts the M240i Coupe at $53,600 and the M240i xDrive Coupe at $55,600. System output is 386 horsepower at 5,200–6,250 rpm and 398 lb-ft at 1,900–4,800 rpm from a 2,998-cc inline-six with 48-volt mild-hybrid assist. Official 0–60 claims are 4.4 seconds rear-drive and 4.1 with xDrive. Top speed on the tech sheet is 130 mph. Curb weight is listed at 3,854 pounds for the RWD car and 3,964 for xDrive. Length is 179.4 inches on a 107.9-inch wheelbase — compact sporty coupe, not a midsize four-door.

Those numbers line up with BMW’s June 2024 U.S. PressClub release for the refreshed 2 Series Coupe, which already locked the M240i to an 8-speed Sport Steptronic. The 2027 sticker on bmwusa.com is higher than that release’s 2025 MSRP ($50,100 / $52,100), but the gearbox story did not change: automatic across the M240i line.

Adaptive M suspension, M Sport seats, and the M leather wheel are part of the M240i’s pitch. None of that puts a third pedal in the footwell. The sibling 2027 M3 Sedan still sells a $79,300 base car with a six-speed. This coupe does not.

$53,600 before destination for a 386-hp compact coupe that refuses to print a manual. That is the stick-shift story BMW is not selling on the M240i page right now at bmwusa.com, backed by the live technical data sheet and the PressClub 2 Series Coupe kit.
