Chevrolet’s 2026 Silverado 1500 2.7 TurboMax four makes 430 lb-ft. Ford’s 2026 F-150 2.7 EcoBoost V6 makes 400. On the official max-tow rows, the Chevy four also wins: 9,500 lbs versus 8,400. Ford’s 3.5 EcoBoost is the half-ton tow king at 13,500 lbs when properly equipped. Those are the books. Not a magazine test. Not a dealer blog.

None of these half-tons prints a three-pedal. Chevrolet pairs the 2026 2.7 with an 8-speed automatic. Ford lists an electronic 10-speed automatic behind the EcoBoost V6s. RAM lists a TorqueFlite 8 eight-speed automatic; RAM Canada’s 2026 payload/towing PDF names that gearbox 8HP75 on Hurricane. Toyota lists a 10-speed ECT-i behind i-FORCE. GM’s 2027 Silverado kit says the enhanced 2.7 TurboMax will get a 10-speed. That 10-speed is a 2027 change. It is not on the 2026 2.7 page.
Scoreboard (official only)
Max tow is the manufacturer’s properly equipped maximum. It is not what a Crew Cab 4×4 on the lot will pull. EPA city/highway/combined and tank/range are listed by configuration. They are not collapsed into one number.

1 chevrolet.com/trucks/silverado/1500 (2026): TurboMax 310 horsepower, best-in-class 430 lb-ft standard torque, 8-speed automatic. GMC’s April 5, 2023 newsroom item named TurboMax for 2024 Sierra and printed 310 hp, 430 lb-ft, and 9,500 lbs max available towing. Chevrolet’s 2026 page still prints 310 and 430. It does not print peak-rpm on that page, so this draft does not invent 5,600 / 3,000.
2 Chevrolet’s 2026 Silverado 1500 Max Trailering PDF: 2.7L Turbo at 14,500-lb GCWR, Regular Cab Long Bed 2WD = 9,500 lbs. Regular Cab Long Bed 4×4 = 9,300. Crew Cab Short Bed 2WD = 9,300. Chevrolet.com also prints a truck-wide minimum of 8,700 lbs and a maximum of 13,300 lbs (Duramax Double Cab Standard Bed, 20-inch wheels). The 9,500-lb 2.7 number is the Regular Cab Long Bed 2WD row, not a Crew Cab RST.
3 EPA 2026 Silverado 2.7, 4-cyl, automatic 8-spd, turbo. 2WD id 49358: 18/21/20, 24.0 gal, 480 miles total range, EPA MSRP band $36,900–$62,900. Sport Mode 2WD id 49357: 17/21/19, 456 miles. 4WD 4M id 49378: 17/21/19, 456 miles, EPA MSRP band $41,500–$66,700. Sport Mode 4WD id 49381: 17/20/18, 432 miles. Mud Terrain Tires (with Sport Mode) 4WD: 16/17/17, 408 miles. Model index: 2026 Chevrolet Silverado. EPA notes MSRP and tank size are provided by Edmunds.com, Inc. Range is EPA’s printed total range, not a hand calculation.
4 Ford US consumer specs: ford.com/trucks/f150/specs/ — 2.7 EcoBoost 325 hp, 400 lb-ft, twin intercooled turbos, 8,400 lbs max available tow, 1,775 lbs payload. 3.5 EcoBoost on that specs page: 400 hp, 500 lb-ft, 13,500 lbs max available tow (best-in-class), 2,440 lbs payload. Ford 2026 XLT / STX pages also print the 2.7 at 325 / 400 and an electronic 10-speed automatic. Ford 2026 XLT, King Ranch, and Platinum pages print the gas 3.5 EcoBoost at 382 hp / 500 lb-ft. Ford.com timed out on live fetch from this desk; those figures are from the indexed official US pages. They are not averaged.
5 EPA 2026 F-150, automatic (S10), turbo. 2.7 2WD id 50092: 19/25/21, 36.0 gal, 756 miles, EPA MSRP band $37,290–$68,800. 2.7 4WD id 50098: 18/23/20, 720 miles. 3.5 2WD id 50093: 17/25/20, 720 miles. 3.5 4WD id 50099: 17/23/19, 684 miles. Index: 2026 Ford F150. Ford XLT/STX pages also print a 36-gallon tank on SuperCab/SuperCrew (non-hybrid).

8 toyota.com/tundra: i-FORCE 389 hp / 479 lb-ft; i-FORCE MAX 437 hp / 583 lb-ft; max towing 12,000 lbs; max payload 1,850 lbs; 10-speed ECT-i. Toyota USA Newsroom, “2026 Toyota Tundra: A Bold New Chapter in Full-Size Pickup Excellence”: same 389 / 479; MAX 437 at 5,200 rpm and 583 at 2,400; 10-speed ECT-i; 12,000-lb maximum towing; 32.2-gallon tank now standard on all grades. No diesel in the Tundra book.
9 EPA 2026 Tundra 3.4L turbo, automatic (S10). 2WD: 18/23/20, 32.2 gal, 644 miles (id 49369). 4WD: 17/22/19. Hybrid 4WD: 19/22/20, 644 miles. Index: 2026 Toyota Tundra.
The four makes more peak torque than Ford’s 2.7 V6
Chevrolet.com still prints TurboMax at 310 horsepower and 430 lb-ft of standard torque, with Active Fuel Management, automatic stop/start, and the 8-speed automatic. It is standard on WT, Custom, Custom Trail Boss, LT, RST, and LT Trail Boss. Ford’s 2.7 EcoBoost is the higher-horsepower small turbo: 325 hp and 400 lb-ft, twin intercooled turbos, 10-speed. Chevy wins peak torque on those two rows. Ford wins peak horsepower and gear count.

GMC’s 2024 Sierra kit is where TurboMax got the name in print, with 310 / 430 and 9,500 lbs. Chevrolet’s 2026 consumer page still matches 310 and 430. It does not reprint the rpm peaks on that page.
9,500 vs 8,400 vs 13,500
Chevrolet’s 2026 Max Trailering chart is the 2.7 tow book. At 14,500-lb GCWR, Regular Cab Long Bed 2WD is 9,500 lbs. Regular Cab Long Bed 4×4 is 9,300. Crew Cab Short Bed 2WD is 9,300. Crew Cab Standard Bed 2WD is 9,100. The 9,500-lb headline is a stripper Regular Cab Long Bed 2WD, not a loaded Crew Cab. GMC’s 2023 TurboMax footnote said the same config: Regular Cab Long Bed 2WD with the 2.7 and the Trailering Package.

Ford’s 2.7 max available tow is 8,400 lbs. Payload on that Ford specs row is 1,775 lbs. The 3.5 EcoBoost is the other Ford turbo-6 in this comparison: 13,500 lbs max available tow and 2,440 lbs payload on the same US specs page. Chevrolet’s truck-wide maximum is 13,300 lbs, and that row is Duramax, not TurboMax.
Ford’s 3.5 EcoBoost horsepower is the messy line. The US specs page lists 400 hp and 500 lb-ft. The 2026 XLT, King Ranch, and Platinum model pages list 382 hp and 500 lb-ft. This draft prints both. It does not pick a favorite and it does not average. A 2026 Ford press PDF did not come back from media.ford.com on this fetch.
PowerBoost is Ford’s other turbo-6. Ford’s 2026 XLT page prints 420 horsepower for the 3.5 PowerBoost full hybrid. The same XLT FAQ prints 578 lb-ft; STX, King Ranch, and Platinum pages print 570 lb-ft. The specs-page FAQ lists 11,600 lbs max available tow for PowerBoost. Fuel tank on those Ford pages is 30.6 gallons, hybrid only. It is an alternative, not a substitute for the gas 3.5 comparison. EPA 2026 F-150 2WD HEV 3.5: 23 city / 25 hwy / 24 combined. 4WD HEV: 22 / 24 / 23.
EPA mpg, and the tank that actually sets range
EPA 2026 Silverado 2WD 2.7 8-speed: 18 city / 21 highway / 20 combined, 24.0-gallon tank, 480 miles total range. That is id 49358. Sport Mode 2WD drops to 17/21/19 and 456 miles. 4WD is 17/21/19 and 456 miles. Sport Mode 4WD is 17/20/18 and 432 miles. Mud-terrain 4WD with Sport Mode is 16/17/17 and 408 miles. Same 24.0-gallon tank on those EPA cards. Chevrolet.com starting MSRP for 2026 Silverado 1500 is $36,900. EPA’s 2WD 2.7 MSRP band is $36,900–$62,900. That band is EPA’s, labeled EPA, not a Chevrolet window sticker unless Chevy printed the top of the band.
EPA 2026 F-150 2.7 2WD: 19/25/21, 36.0 gallons, 756 miles. 4WD: 18/23/20, 720 miles. EPA 3.5 2WD: 17/25/20, 720 miles. 4WD: 17/23/19, 684 miles. Ford’s 36-gallon SuperCab/SuperCrew tank is why the F-150 2.7 walks away on EPA range even when combined mpg is close. Chevy’s 24.0-gallon EPA tank is why 20 combined becomes 480 miles, not 700.

RAM Hurricane and Toyota i-FORCE
RAM’s daily turbo is the 3.0 Hurricane standard-output I6: 420 hp and 469 lb-ft. That is more horsepower than Chevy’s 2.7, Ford’s 2.7, and Ford’s gas 3.5 on either Ford horsepower print. US ramtrucks.com lists TorqueFlite 8 and 11,610 lbs max towing on 4×2 / 11,370 on 4×4. RAM Canada’s 2026 payload/towing PDF lists 8HP75 and 11,220 lbs (Crew Cab 6’4″, 3.92 axle, SAE J2807). Print both. The High-Output Hurricane is 540 hp / 521 lb-ft and 10,000 lbs max tow on the US 4×4 page. That is the performance Hurricane, not the daily alternative.

Toyota’s Tundra has no four and no diesel. i-FORCE is a 3.4 twin-turbo V6 at 389 hp / 479 lb-ft. i-FORCE MAX is the hybrid at 437 hp / 583 lb-ft. Both use the 10-speed ECT-i. Toyota prints up to 12,000 lbs maximum towing and, for 2026, a 32.2-gallon tank standard on all grades. EPA 2WD i-FORCE is 18/23/20 and 644 miles on that 32.2-gallon tank.

What the books actually give you
Chevy 2.7 TurboMax. More peak torque than Ford’s 2.7 (430 vs 400). Higher official max conventional tow than Ford’s 2.7 (9,500 vs 8,400), on a Regular Cab Long Bed 2WD. 8-speed, not Ford’s 10-speed. EPA 2WD 18/21/20 and a 24.0-gallon tank. Chevrolet.com starts the 2026 Silverado 1500 at $36,900.
Ford 2.7 EcoBoost. More horsepower (325 vs 310). Twin intercooled turbos. 10-speed. 8,400-lb max available tow. 1,775-lb payload on the Ford specs row. EPA 2WD 19/25/21 and a 36.0-gallon tank, 756 miles of EPA range.
Ford 3.5 EcoBoost. Class tow at 13,500 lbs on Ford’s US specs page. 500 lb-ft. Horsepower is 400 on that specs page and 382 on the 2026 XLT / King Ranch / Platinum pages. Payload 2,440 lbs. EPA 2WD 17/25/20.
RAM Hurricane SO. 420 hp / 469 lb-ft. More horsepower than either daily Ford turbo or the Chevy four. 8-speed. US max tow 11,610 lbs 4×2. Canada PDF 11,220 lbs. HO 540/521 is the other Hurricane.
Tundra i-FORCE. Twin-turbo V6 plus a hybrid option. 389/479 or 437/583. 10-speed. 12,000-lb max tow. 32.2-gallon tank. No diesel.
2027 Silverado is a different truck
GM’s June 16, 2026 newsroom release introduces the next-generation 2027 Silverado 1500. It keeps four powertrains: next-gen 5.7L and 6.6L V8s, an enhanced 2.7L TurboMax “that delivers best-in-class standard torque,” now paired with a 10-speed, and the Duramax 3.0L turbo-diesel. Availability and MSRP “will be announced later this year.” GM did not print 2027 TurboMax horsepower, torque, or tow in that kit. This draft does not invent them. The 10-speed on the enhanced 2.7 is a 2027 line. The 2026 2.7 remains the 8-speed.
