Koenigsegg Built 70 CCGT1s at 1,600 hp and Sold Them All

70 cars. Same run as the CC850 it sits on. 1,600 horsepower on E85. Koenigsegg allocated every CCGT1 before the public debut at Monterey Car Week on August 13. The car is a road-legal tribute to the 2007 CCGT GT1 that never raced Le Mans. Koenigsegg’s August 13 release is the source. Price is not in the kit.

1,280 hp on pump. 1,600 on E85.

The engine is Koenigsegg’s twin-turbo V8. Extra cooling for long sessions. Displacement is not published. Official numbers:

  • 1,280 hp on standard pump fuel
  • 1,600 hp on E85 biofuel
  • Any blend of the two, via Koenigsegg’s in-house engine management
  • 9-speed Light Speed Transmission
  • Koenigsegg Sequential Shift (KSS) standard: clutch pedal for take-off, ignition-cut clutchless shifts
  • ASMR dial: Auto, Sequential, Manual, Reverse
  • Optional Engage Shift System (ESS): gated six-speed manual from the CC850
  • Paddles and automatic shifting available with both configurations
  • In ESS Manual mode, six of the LST’s nine gears
  • New roof scoop feeds an enlarged oil cooler and dedicated damper cooling

KSS is the GT1 piece. Sequential shifter next to the wheel. Same idea as the original CCGT’s magnesium sequential. Koenigsegg calls the LST revolutionary. That is the marketing line. The hardware is a clutch for launch and ignition cuts after that.

800 kg at 250 km/h

Nearly every body panel is new. Only the doors and removable roof carry over from the CC850. The wing is the obvious piece. It is active. 30 degrees of automatic travel. Low-drag on the straights, air-brake under heavy braking, high-downforce in the corners. No driver input.

CFD engineer Andreas Tjernberg Persson led the aero. Official figures:

  • Up to 800 kg of downforce at 250 km/h
  • Peak downforce sits between the Jesko Attack and Sadair’s Spear
  • Sadair’s Spear is listed as 30 percent more downforce than the Jesko Attack
  • Large front splitter and active underbody flaps
  • Underfloor strakes and a bespoke rear diffuser
  • Designed for usable downforce at comparatively lower speeds

Koenigsegg says the floor does more work than the wing. That is the claim. No Cd. No frontal area. No curb weight for the road car.

The original never started a race

The CCGT was built for Le Mans GT1. Unveiled in 2007. Christian von Koenigsegg designed the first CC prototype to GT1 width and frontal area so a racer would not need a new body. One car. About 1,000 kg against a 1,100 kg class limit. Naturally aspirated 5.0-liter V8, 600 hp in race trim — the class cap. Magnesium sequential gearbox. More than 600 kg of downforce. Loris Bicocchi did the setup.

Two months after shakedown, the FIA rewrote GT1 for higher-volume production cars. The program stopped before a competitive lap. The car was sold, sat 15 years with its first owner, and was offered at the Goodwood Festival of Speed in 2024. Koenigsegg Legend Division has refurbished it. It is waiting on a GT1 Historic debut under a U.S. owner. That is the official reason the tribute exists.

First factory track package. No price.

Koenigsegg is selling its first factory-designed track package on the CCGT1. Any certified dealer can fit it or pull it. Official contents:

  • Full carbon roll cage
  • HANS-compatible racing seats
  • Fire-suppression system
  • Race exhaust
  • Air jacks
  • Track-focused suspension and brakes
  • Second set of rims with track-optimized tires
  • Enhanced aerodynamics
  • Data logging, communications, and telemetry
  • Invitation to exclusive CCGT1 track days with factory support

Standard seats are ultra-light carbon fiber, six-point harness for the driver. Covered ignition switch. Fuel-pump toggle. Red starter. Third-generation Chronocluster with an analogue G-meter that has no electrical connection. Optional three-spoke Aircore carbon wheels, among the lightest Koenigsegg has made.

Ghost Fibre is the new white carbon. Trevita did this in 2009 and Koenigsegg stopped because it was hard to make. The new version is an aramid/carbon matrix. Official claims: ballistic protection, sound deadening, lighter than a carbon-only lay-up. That is the press language. No weight delta is published.

Christian von Koenigsegg’s line is two identities: tourer on the road, circuit car with the package on. The company also says the track-pack CCGT1 will be the fastest-lapping Koenigsegg. No lap time. No circuit. No price. 70 cars. All gone before Monterey.
