Mercedes Opened C-Class Orders at €48,844 and Still Will Not Price the US One

Mercedes opened orders on the refreshed C-Class today. €48,844 including VAT for a C 200 Saloon in Germany. €41,045 before tax. The Stuttgart release is dated August 17, 2026. Mercedes-Benz USA says the car arrives at U.S. dealers in the first half of 2027. They did not publish a U.S. price. This is the combustion Saloon and Estate. Not the electric C-Class Europe already has.

€48,844 in Germany. No U.S. sticker.

Orders opened August 18, 2026, for every engine Mercedes listed. The cheap one is the C 200 Saloon. The technical data sheet also prices a C 300 Saloon at €60,279 including VAT and a C 400 e 4MATIC plug-in at €73,548. Those are German numbers. Plus delivery. Not a conversion. Not an MSRP.

Mercedes USA dated the car. First half of 2027. They published a 2.0-liter turbo with 255 hp and 295 lb-ft, plus a 27 hp overboost for about 20 seconds. They did not publish a price. If you are waiting for a U.S. window sticker, you are still waiting.

The gas one. Not the EV.

Mercedes already launched an electric C-Class in Europe. Different car. This post is the ICE and plug-in hybrid refresh of the existing Saloon and Estate. Mercedes calls it the most comprehensive technical upgrade in C-Class history. Their words, August 17.

It is also not the electric CLA or the Mercedes-AMG CLA 45. Those are already on Autogonzo. Different cars. Different nameplates. Do not mix them.

The Stuttgart kit lists petrol, diesel, and plug-in hybrids. All of them carry a second-generation integrated starter-generator. ISG 2.0. Up to 17 kW and 205 Nm on the mild hybrids. Euro 7-ready, Mercedes says. Diesels take HVO100, B10, and B20.

A lit grille and a computer that talks

New radiator grille with contour lighting. Hot-stamped stars in the mesh. Headlamps with a star daytime running light. On the Saloon, the tail lamps get the same trick. The central star lights up in some markets. AMG Line Plus is new to the C-Class. Two new paints in the German kit: lavender silver metallic and moody sky grey metallic.

Inside: 12.3-inch instrument cluster. 11.9-inch portrait center screen. Fourth-generation MBUX on MB.OS. Over-the-air updates. The MBUX Virtual Assistant is the AI they want you to talk to. “Hey Mercedes.” ChatGPT, Microsoft Bing, and Google Gemini in the same stack. Navigation uses Google Maps plus the Google Cloud Automotive AI Agent. Driver aids are MB.DRIVE, including MB.DRIVE ASSIST PLUS and MB.DRIVE PARKING ASSIST.

What Mercedes actually published

  • Orders: August 18, 2026. Germany start price: €41,045 excl. VAT / €48,844 incl. VAT for the C 200 Saloon.
  • Bodies: Saloon and Estate. Petrol, diesel, plug-in hybrid. Not the electric C-Class.
  • Petrol (M 254 EVO 2.0): C 200 130 kW / 177 hp. C 250 160 kW / 218 hp. C 300 190 kW / 258 hp and 400 Nm.
  • ISG 2.0 on the mild hybrids: up to 17 kW and 205 Nm. 48-volt coasting and recuperation.
  • Plug-in C 400 e 4MATIC: up to 290 kW / 395 hp and 650 Nm. 19.53 kWh usable battery. Up to 100 km electric (WLTP). 11 kW AC, 55 kW DC.
  • Diesel (OM 654 EVO): C 200 d 120 kW / 163 hp. C 250 d 147 kW / 200 hp. HVO100, B10, B20.
  • Estate cargo: 490 litres, 1,510 litres seats down. PHEV Estate: 360–1,375 litres.
  • Rear-axle steering: up to 2.5 degrees. Turning circle cut 43 cm to 10.64 metres.
  • Drag: from 0.24 Saloon, from 0.26 Estate.
  • U.S.: Mercedes-Benz USA says first half of 2027. No U.S. MSRP in the kit.

Germany can buy it this week. America gets a date and no number. Same C-Class. Different continent. The EV already exists. This one still burns fuel, or plugs in when it feels like it.
