Scout Motors showed the trucks. Ford still will not. The Terra pickup and Traveler SUV are on the website, next to a barn, with a Cabana roof and a Harvester door. You still cannot buy one. Production is targeted for 2027. CEO Scott Keogh says customer deliveries start in 2028. The $100 reservation is refundable. The under-$60,000 sticker is a projection.
Terra is the crew-cab pickup. Traveler is the SUV. Both sit on a new body-on-frame platform with a solid rear axle, front and rear mechanical locking diffs, and four-wheel drive. Scout said that in the October 24, 2024 reveal and still says it on the product pages. Engineered in Detroit. Built in Blythewood, South Carolina, 20 minutes northeast of Columbia. Volkswagen Group money in the background.
350 miles, or 500 if you keep a gas can
Official claims. Manufacturer estimates. No EPA numbers yet.
- Battery-electric: up to 350 miles.
- Harvester gasoline range-extender: targeting 500 miles or more. The engine is a generator. It does not turn the wheels. Scout’s help page projects about 150 electric miles on Harvester trucks, then the tank.
- 800-volt architecture, up to 350 kW DC, native NACS, CCS with an adapter.
- 0–60: 3.5 seconds for the BEV, 4.5 for Harvester.
- Nearly 1,000 lb-ft through electric drive units.
- Terra towing over 10,000 pounds. Traveler over 7,000. Payload nearly 2,000 on both. Concept-era numbers. Scout still repeats them.
- Terra bed: 5.5 feet. Front bench. Seating for six. A 240-volt outlet in the bed.
- Traveler: Cabana Top, split tailgate, swing-out spare, frunk.
Entry models “expected to start under $60,000.” The 2024 reveal said Terra as low as $51,500 and Traveler $50,000 with incentives. That is not an MSRP. Scout’s own disclaimer calls these concept-stage products, reservation only, price confirmed closer to production.
The off-road copy is old-school on purpose. Over a foot of ground clearance. Off-road-tuned springs or air with active damping. Front sway-bar disconnect. Tires up to 35 inches. The Terra can hide a 33-inch spare under the bed, or hang a 35 in the box. Lockers are real switches in the roof, not a submenu. Scout is selling a ladder frame in a market that spent a decade pretending crossovers were trucks.
A factory that just started welding
In June 2026, Blythewood welded its first Traveler body. Keogh told reservation holders it will not end up in a driveway. It is a process check. “There’s still plenty of work ahead. But for the first time, our factory isn’t just being built … it’s building.” Scout Support, March 23, 2026: initial production targeted 2027, validation vehicles in 2026, customer deliveries 2028. As of March 2026, more than 85 percent of reservations are Harvester. Scout intends to build the range-extender first.
Ford named Fathom, priced it at $28,350, and hid the sheetmetal. Scout did the opposite. You can stare at the trucks all day. You still write a $100 check and wait until 2028.
The plant is a $2 billion bet on more than 1,100 acres, plus a $300 million supplier park Scout added without new incentives. At full song it is supposed to build 200,000 vehicles a year. Right now it is welding bodies that will never be sold. That is the honest version of “coming soon.”
Scout retail stores are supposed to open in 16 metros, then about 100 across the U.S. and Canada by 2032. Direct sales. One app. That is the plan. The vehicles are still production-intent concepts with a reservation queue. $100 holds your place. It does not buy you a truck.
