What TFL Reported at the Booth

The short is 77 seconds. The channel is The Fast Lane Truck. The title on YouTube is “IT’S ABOUT TIME.” The walk-around is at the Toyota booth in Colorado. The correspondent said the production Champ is a cheap Toyota truck in Asia. He called it a basic two-wheel-drive work truck, vinyl seats, no screen, air conditioning, and a rear locking differential. He said the show truck came from the Philippines. He said engineers flew in. He said the machine is officially an off-road concept and a piece of market research. He said he wants it under $20,000 in the United States.

TFL later wrote a booth report. That report is not a Toyota USA kit. Treat the Colorado numbers as TFL reporting. TFL said the concept sits on a shorter Land Cruiser FJ chassis. TFL said the turbo diesel is gone and a 4.0-liter V6 is in its place, paired with a six-speed automatic. TFL said it has a 4Hi/4Lo transfer case, a solid rear axle with a locking differential, and a lifted suspension. TFL said an engineer told them the front suspension mounts match a third-generation Tacoma. TFL said Toyota spoke of as much as 1,700 pounds of payload and 5,500 pounds of towing on the concept. Those figures are TFL’s account of the booth. They are not factory facts in the United States book.

The TFL write-up is here.

The Clutch the Colorado Truck Does Not Print

Production Hilux Champ and Tamaraw official books print a five-speed manual, and they print automatics. The Colorado booth truck is a 4×4 concept TFL says wears a six-speed automatic. Toyota USA has not printed a three-pedal United States model. We love manuals. We report what the factory printed.

What Toyota Printed in the Philippines

In the Philippines the same family is Tamaraw. Toyota Motor Philippines, on Jan. 24, 2025, declared the 2.4 Dropside DSL M/T at an SRP of ₱937,000 as first units reached customers. That notice is here.

The official Tamaraw price page lists a five-speed manual on multiple grades. The book prints a 2.0 Utility Van Gas M/T at ₱1,010,000 and a 2.0 Dropside Gas M/T at ₱757,000. The 2.4 Dropside DSL M/T remains ₱937,000. The company also prints a 2.4 GL Dropside DSL A/T at ₱1,075,000 and a 2.4 Utility Van LWB DSL M/T at ₱1,142,000. Those figures are pesos. No official kit on this desk converts them to dollars. The Tamaraw page is here.
