Toyota Priced the 2026 Tacoma TRD Off-Road Manual at $42,515 and Kept the Clutch

Toyota priced the 2026 Tacoma TRD Off-Road with the six-speed manual at $42,515. That is the MSRP for model 7545, the 4×4 TRD Off-Road Double Cab 6MT short bed, on the Toyota Newsroom full-line price sheet last updated Oct. 2, 2026. Delivery, processing, and handling for a Tacoma adds $1,745. The same truck with the eight-speed automatic lists at $43,615. So the clutch is not an upcharge. It takes $1,100 off.

Three trims, one cab, one bed

This is the clutch graf, and Toyota printed a real one. The 2026 Tacoma spec sheet on toyota.com lists a “6-speed intelligent Manual Transmission (iMT2) with automatic rev-matching and anti-stall technology” as standard on the manual TRD Off-Road. The ratios are 4.79, 2.42, 1.44, 1.00, 0.83, and 0.64, with a 4.30 final drive (the automatic runs 3.58) and the same 2.57:1 low range in the two-speed transfer case. Toyota’s manual-transmission page names three Tacoma trims with the stick, SR, TRD Sport, and TRD Off-Road, and adds a Clutch Start Cancel switch so you can restart in gear on a steep trail without rolling back. Every 6MT row on the price sheet is a 4×4 Double Cab short bed. No XtraCab, no 2WD, no long bed, and no clutch behind the i-FORCE MAX hybrid. Toyota’s Nov. 13, 2025 release for the 2026 Tacoma puts it in one line: “For driving purists, a six-speed intelligent manual transmission with rev-matching and stall avoidance is available on select i-FORCE models.”

What else the stick changes

The manual gets its own engine tune. Toyota rates the i-FORCE 2.4-liter turbo four at 270 hp and 310 lb-ft with the six-speed, against 278 hp and 317 lb-ft for the automatic TRD Off-Road. EPA estimates slip from 19/23/21 mpg to 18/23/20. Payload drops from 1,610 to 1,525 pounds, while max towing goes the other way, 6,400 pounds for the manual versus 6,300 for the automatic. The equipment list is where the stick really pays. Toyota’s spec sheet marks Multi-Terrain Select, CRAWL Control, and Downhill Assist Control as standard on the automatic TRD Off-Road and not available on the manual. Toyota Safety Sense 3.0 is still standard, but the manual gets Dynamic Radar Cruise Control instead of the full-speed-range version and goes without Proactive Driving Assist. The electronically locking rear differential stays standard on both.

The official number board

Toyota’s price sheet and spec sheet for the 2026 Tacoma 4×4 TRD Off-Road Double Cab 6MT list:

  • MSRP: $42,515, excluding the $1,745 delivery, processing, and handling fee
  • Engine: i-FORCE 2.4-liter turbocharged inline-four
  • Output with the manual: 270 hp at 5,400 rpm, 310 lb-ft
  • Transmission: six-speed intelligent Manual Transmission (iMT2) with automatic rev-matching and anti-stall
  • Drivetrain: 4WDemand part-time 4WD, two-speed transfer case (1.00:1 / 2.57:1), electronically locking rear differential
  • EPA estimate: 18 city / 23 highway / 20 combined mpg
  • Max towing: 6,400 lb; max payload: 1,525 lb
  • Tires: 265/70R17 all-terrains on 17-inch TRD Off-Road alloys

Toyota.com’s 2026 Tacoma pages showed a $42,815 base MSRP for the same model code when we checked, $300 above the newsroom sheet, with the automatic at $43,915. Either way, the manual is $1,100 cheaper.

The other two manual Tacomas

The TRD Sport 4×4 Double Cab 6MT is also $42,515 on the newsroom sheet, $800 less than the automatic TRD Sport 4×4 short bed at $43,315. The best deal is at the bottom of the range. The SR 4×4 Double Cab 6MT is $37,105, exactly the same as the SR automatic. But the automatic SR uses the 228-hp, 243 lb-ft tune, so the manual SR gets the 270-hp engine at no extra cost. Toyota also lists the manual SR’s max towing at 6,400 pounds, against 3,500 for the automatic SR.

The rest of the 2026 truck

The 2026 Tacoma still rides on Toyota’s TNGA-F truck platform, shared with the Tundra, Land Cruiser, and Sequoia, with a coil-spring multi-link rear suspension on most grades. TRD Off-Road gets monotube Bilstein shocks with piggyback reservoirs, and the Stabilizer Disconnect Mechanism is available. The i-FORCE MAX hybrid makes 326 hp and 465 lb-ft, but it only comes with the eight-speed automatic, and it is the only powertrain for the TRD Pro and Trailhunter. New for 2026 are a black front logo on TRD Off-Road, TRD Sport, and TRD PreRunner, Heritage Blue paint, and Wave Maker paint exclusive to the TRD Pro. The cheapest Tacoma on the sheet, a 4×2 SR XtraCab, is $32,245.

Toyota’s launch release for this generation of Tacoma, back for the 2024 model year, already listed the manual’s 270 hp and 310 lb-ft and its clutch start cancel feature. For 2026, the clutch is still on the price sheet. For other off-roaders and Toyotas that still come with three pedals, read our stories on the 2026 Jeep Wrangler, the GR Corolla, and the 2027 GR86.

The bottom line: $42,515 buys a 2026 Tacoma TRD Off-Road with a six-speed manual, rev-matching, and a locking rear diff. That is $1,100 less than the automatic. You give up 8 hp, CRAWL Control, and some payload. In return, you get a clutch pedal in a midsize pickup.
