Nissan Priced the 2027 Sentra SR at $24,990 and Left Out the Clutch

Nissan priced the 2027 Sentra SR at $24,990. That is the MSRP in Nissan’s Aug. 18, 2026 pricing release, and it excludes the $1,275 destination and handling charge, so call it $26,265 before tax, title, and license. The SR is the sporty Sentra: 18-inch wheels, blacked-out trim, a rear spoiler. Nissan’s pricing table prints the same thing next to every grade, SR included: “2.0 Liter I4 | CVT.” There is no clutch on the order sheet.

The clutch graf: Nissan printed a CVT, and Canada lost the stick

Here is the clutch graf, and it is short. The 2027 Sentra press kit lists one transmission type for S, SV, SR, and SL: Xtronic. That is a continuously variable transmission with a 2.805–0.357 ratio range driving the front wheels. Nissan’s 2027 news is a retune. The release says the “Xtronic™ Continuous Variable Transmission” got new tuning for “a smoother and more linear acceleration profile, with crisper response to accelerator inputs.” The 2027 spec sheet also lists a 5.25:1 final drive, up from 5.034:1 in the 2026 book. That is the full list of driveline changes. The part that stings is in Canada. Nissan Canada’s 2025 Sentra press kit priced two grades as “2.0 Liter I4 6-Speed Manual”: the S MT at CA$23,898 and the SR MT at CA$28,498. The SR CVT listed at CA$29,048, so the stick-shift SR was CA$550 cheaper. When Nissan Canada priced the all-new 2026 Sentra on Nov. 20, 2025, the MT grades were gone. The lineup runs from the S at CA$25,268 to the SR Premium at CA$31,998, and nissan.ca’s spec page lists the Xtronic CVT. The new generation dropped the six-speed.

The official number board

Nissan’s 2027 press kit, pricing release, and nissanusa.com give these figures:

What the SR money buys

The SR is mostly a styling grade. Nissan’s 2026 kit lists a unique front fascia with a blacked-out center and a dark chrome V-motion piece, an SR-specific rear bumper, black side sills, a rear spoiler, 18-inch alloys, and a two-tone roof treatment. For 2027, the $650 Midnight Edition package adds black exterior badges, including a Midnight Edition badge, black window trim, 18-inch black alloy wheels, and a Super Black two-tone roof. Nissan says the Sport mode “sharpens steering and powertrain response.” The 2026 SR listed at $25,000 with $1,245 destination. The 2027 SR is $10 cheaper, and destination is up $30. So you pay $20 more for the 2027, and it still has two pedals.

Where the three pedals went

For a Nissan with a clutch, look at the Z. The 2027 Z offers a six-speed manual on Sport, Performance, and NISMO, as covered in Nissan Priced the 2027 Z Sport at $44,480 and Kept the Clutch. If you want a clutch in a compact, Mazda still prints a six-speed in the Mazda3 Hatchback: Mazda Priced the 2026 Mazda3 Hatchback Premium at $31,650 and Kept the Clutch. Honda went the same way as Nissan with its everyday sporty compact: Honda Priced the 2026 Civic Hatchback Sport at $27,895 and Left Out the Clutch.

$24,990 before destination for a 149-hp sedan with a spoiler, a Sport button, and a CVT. Canada had a cheaper SR with a stick, and the new generation dropped it. That is the 2027 Sentra SR as Nissan published it at usa.nissannews.com.
