Toyota Raised the 2026 GR Corolla to $40,520 and Kept the Clutch

Toyota now lists the 2026 GR Corolla at $40,520. That’s the Base MSRP on Toyota’s official GR Corolla page, and in Toyota’s own model data that price belongs to trim 6281, the six-speed manual. When Toyota launched the car in its September 25, 2025 pricing release, the same Base MT was $39,920. That’s a $600 increase, and the clutch is still the entry ticket.

Both grades went up $600

The price change hit both grades. Toyota’s launch release put the Premium Plus with the manual (model 6287) at $45,965. Toyota.com now lists the GR Corolla Premium Plus at $46,565, which is also $600 more. The limited-run GRMN Corolla is still listed at $64,360.

  • GR Corolla (6MT, model 6281): $40,520 on toyota.com today, up from $39,920 at launch
  • GR Corolla Premium Plus (6MT, model 6287): $46,565 today, up from $45,965 at launch
  • GRMN Corolla (6-speed iMT only): $64,360
  • Launch automatic prices for reference: $41,920 for the Base AT (6280) and $47,965 for the Premium Plus AT (6286), from the September 2025 release
  • Dealer Processing and Handling: $1,195 extra, per the September 2025 release

Toyota.com shows the new starting prices for each grade but not a separate price for each transmission. The table above uses Toyota’s own trim codes, and we haven’t guessed the current automatic price.

The clutch is still standard

Toyota’s spec block on the official page lists the transmission as “8-Speed Automatic or 6-Speed Manual Transmission.” The trim cards are more specific: the GR Corolla and GR Corolla Premium Plus both get a “6-speed iMT or 8-speed DAT.” The iMT is Toyota’s six-speed Intelligent Manual Transmission, which uses rev-matching on downshifts. DAT is the eight-speed GAZOO Racing Direct Automatic Transmission. On both regular grades the manual is the cheaper option: at launch it was $2,000 less than the automatic. The GRMN Corolla card lists just one gearbox, the “6-speed iMT,” and Toyota says it has closer ratios and 302 lb-ft of torque. That means all three versions of the car are sold with three pedals, and the top one is sold with nothing else.

300 hp and adjustable all-wheel drive

The engine hasn’t changed. Toyota.com lists the G16E-GTS 1.6-liter turbocharged three-cylinder at 300 hp at 6,500 rpm and 295 lb-ft from 3,000 to 5,500 rpm. GR-FOUR all-wheel drive is standard, with three torque splits: 60:40 for everyday driving, 50:50 for the track, and 30:70 to send more torque to the rear wheels. Toyota estimates fuel economy at 21 city and 28 highway mpg for both grades.

The 2026 updates in Toyota’s launch release still apply: structural changes to stiffen the body, a new secondary air intake for better engine temperature control, and an available JBL premium sound system. The Premium Plus adds a forged carbon-fiber roof, 18-inch matte-black 15-spoke wheels on Michelin Pilot Sport 4 tires, and a head-up display.

Same car, $600 more

We covered the launch price when the manual started at $39,920: Toyota Priced the 2026 GR Corolla at $39,920 and Kept the Clutch. If you want the version with no automatic option at all, read the $64,360 GRMN Corolla. If you’d rather have rear-wheel drive and less hardware, the 2027 GR86 at $31,500 also comes with a clutch.
